Dwight Shambley graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and joined the Dallas Symphony in 1972. Shambley taught bass at Texas Tech University and has also been on the faculties of the University of Tulsa, the University of Arkansas and Southern Methodist University.

Paula Holmes Fleming was born in New York City, grew up in Sarasota, Florida, and began her tenure with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 1979. She was an undergraduate student at the University of Miami, spent one year at the Vienna Academy of Music and earned her master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
